THE ECHO
Presentation by Rae Eggleston
INTRODUCTION
The Echo is a concept of audiovisual wonder, meant to delight and entertain. While this is a fictional library, I would love to see some or all of the ideas in this slideshow implemented elsewhere someday.
My inspiration for this fictional location includes immersive experiences such as Meow Wolf. The Echo would be open to all ages, with options for occasional after hours adult events.
DESCRIPTION
The Echo would boast a variety of audio and visual archives, with immersive and highly interactive methods of viewing these “stacks”. The library could be enjoyed fully online, with an accessible, immersive, and dynamic website.
One would also be able to attend an in-person library, filled with adjustable mood lighting, sensory activities and workshops, and art and science-related events.
ACCESSIBILITY
The Echo is meant to be a space for all types of people, whether they be neurotypical, disabled, or otherwise.
Everyone can benefit from a sensory space, especially those with ADHD, Autism, and mental health issues that may require self-soothing.
This space would aid in relaxing as well as educating this subgroup of people.
VISION
This unique venue would be an opportunity to view video clips, listen to music, and view libraries in a completely new way.
New installations would be implemented every few months, much like an art gallery, and these would be part of the dynamic experience of visiting, creating a valuable experience for patrons.
IMPLEMENTATION
In order to assure satisfaction with the library, there would be multiple in-depth surveys completed, including those with multiple variables and fill-in-the-blank options to allow public opinion to influence the future of the venue.
This questionnaire could be made available on the website and via email, with raffle prizes to encourage participation.
CONCLUSION
